We continued driving through lovely green, yellow and red patchwork farmlands made better by the sunshine which we had been missing for the last couple of days. On our map there was an icon for an Engineering Monument near Eperlecques. We decided to investigate what that meant. We came to something called the Blockhaus! It told a story from WW11 starting with the trains carrying those condemned to labour camps by the Germans. The story is told from inside the train carriages from the perspective of someone being taken away to a nazi concentration camp or work camp such as this. It is very well done and very moving.
